British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS)
Team Championships – Match Play
The Team Championships programme includes both league and knockout competitions. During league play, all matches are made up of six to ten singles matches depending upon the league.
The BUCS golf programme is supported by the R&A. Their support helps to enhance the standard of competition and continue to develop golf at university level.
Individual Championships – BUCS Order of Merit (Golf Tour) – Stroke Play
The BUCS Golf Tour is played at some of the UK’s most prestigious courses and takes place over two periods, between September to October and March to April. The Order of Merit is decided over nine qualifying tour events followed by the Tour Finals.
Please visit the BUCS website to view or download the complete BUCS Golf Regulations.
The University currently supports four competitive teams in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships. The 1st Team is formed from 600 Club Scholars and is part of the University’s performance sport programme. The remaining teams are run and managed by the Golf Club committee.
The Club boasts a very impressive fixture list against Golf Clubs both within St Andrews and throughout the rest of the UK. These social fixtures are a key part of the Club and are a great opportunity to play world famous courses. In the past couple years The Club has had matches against Muirfield, Royal St Georges and Royal Liverpool just to name a few.
Selection for these fixtures is open to all members and teams are selected by the Captains.
Weekly Medals and Knockouts:
The Club organises weekly medals on St Andrews’ courses. It organises and runs both scratch and nett knockout competitions for all members throughout both semesters.
The Club is also able to issue Official Handicaps through these medals, a requirement for purchasing a Links Ticket.
